Urban Symphony represented Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The band is made up of all string instrument players. The band centers around 20-year-old lead singer and violinist Sandra Nurmsalu, who became famous through the popular show “Kaks takti ette,” which also launched the careers of many other Estonian Eurovision Song Contest representatives. She is joined by viola player Mann Helstein, cellist Johanna Mängel and cellist Mari Möldre.
They took part with the song Rändajad in the Eurovision final on the 16th of May 2009 and they won the 6th position, Estonia’s best position since 2002.
